Employee Intranet
Builders Group (BG), a construction management firm, first approached HeathNet Consulting (HNC) in late 2001 about building an Intranet to empower its employees to the vast information located across several networks and databases. This information would improve efficiency, allowing employees to spend more time doing what they are paid for rather than many other repetitive, time-consuming tasks they faced everyday.
HNC hired the services of a Microsoft ASP developer, who specialized in this type of integration. Within a few weeks, an Intranet framework, based on the existing website and several custom applications, were ready for immediate deployment. Several others stages were planned in a phased rollout approach, launching during this year. Most of the data already existed across several databases and HNC provided a functional, navigable flow for BG employees to leverage this data. Some of the applications included vendor and project lookup tables, a document library, as well as a workflow system.
BG realized how beneficial this kind of application was for their business and it has improved efficiency just as predicted. This system was immediately deployed to all BG employees and the feedback was extremely positive.
